Color that can take a summer.
Ultraviolet light is a slow bleach. Sitting out in it oxidizes the pigment in your hair much the way it fades paint, and it goes to work fastest on the artificial pigment inside a colored strand. Warm tones drift orange, cool blondes turn yellow, and red goes first, because red molecules are the largest and the quickest to wash out. Add chlorine, salt water, or a hot car window and the fade compounds.
None of that means people who live outdoors cannot have good color. It means the color has to be planned around it. We tend to place lightening a little more conservatively, so there is less porous, thirsty hair to look after afterwards. We keep some depth at the root, so fading reads as sun rather than neglect. And we build a gloss into the plan on purpose, instead of waiting for the tone to collapse and then rescuing it.
Lamya has 22 years behind the chair and takes on the correction work, which is often what this turns into when hair has been lightened, faded, and re-colored a few times over. She will tell you plainly if what your hair needs first is a repair appointment rather than a color one.

What a bond treatment actually does.
Hair gets its strength from disulfide bonds, the links that hold its keratin structure together. Lightener breaks some of them every time it is used, and heat and UV chip away at them more slowly. Once enough are gone the hair goes soft and stretchy when wet, loses its spring, and starts snapping off at the ends. Conditioner cannot fix that. It coats the outside and rinses away.
Bond builders work at a different level. K18, Olaplex, and the L’Oréal treatment on our menu are all designed to re-link or stand in for those broken bonds inside the strand, so the hair recovers some real strength rather than just slip and shine. It is $30, it takes about half an hour, and on hair that has been lightened repeatedly it is the difference between color that holds and ends that keep breaking.
It is worth adding to the lightening appointment itself rather than booking it as a rescue later, because the point is to limit the damage while it is happening.
